Destroyer

Destroyer. Destroy. Her. The Canadian indie-rock band has struck again with their new EP, "Chinatown." Their new album, "Kaputt," is coming out pretty soon next year. Rumors it will be released January 25, only a month away! Dan Bejar, front-man of Destroyer, produced their first album that was released 15 years ago. His first record embodies folk and blues to the tip and this new single, "Chinatown," just goes to show how talented this man really is.

Pitchfork's: The Top 100 Tracks of 2010

Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti "Round and Round" was voted #1 track of 2010. I do not know how the ruling goes behind the scenes at Pitchfork, but the ranking of these 2010 songs are a bit off. Though "Round and Round" is by far Ariel Pink's best song, in no way is it the best overall. Kanye West also rapes the top 10 coming in with #6 and #2 with, "Power" and "Runaway." As I have mentioned before, Pitchfork gave Kanye a 10.0 rating on his album, "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" for some odd reason. I guess if you act like you are the shit, people will start to believe it. My boy, James Blake, came #8 with his single, "I Only Know (What I Know Now)." James Blake does not have too many music videos for his songs,  but here is though incredibly weird, yet astonishingly beautiful video for "Limit to Your Love."

TOKiMONSTA

Besides, Ms. Mary Anne Hobbs, there is not much to say about female electronic artists...mostly because, there aren't any. However, TOKiMONSTA, not only is my idol slash twin-wannabe, but is one of the few brilliant girl DJ's. Her genre is hard to describe - a bit of experimental, hip-hop, dubstep, and break-beat. A Los Angeles native, TOKiMONSTA has played with Shlomo, Daedelus, and other well-known dubstep artists. She dropped her new EP this week called "Alive." Check it out -

Here are some cute pix of her:

BT

"These Hopeful Machines," BT's most recent album, is nominated for best electronic/dance album this year at the Grammy's. Though I am not the biggest trance fan, I can safely say BT is the father of this genre. Graduating from Berklee School of Music, BT has created a highly-respected and big name for himself and is one of the most well-known and honorable artists of all electronic music. He is known to use different software and production techniques to create his unique sound in all of his songs. "These Hopeful Machines," is his best album so far and BT even does the vocals for some of his songs. Fun fact: the girl's vocals in the song, "Forget Me" is actually his daughter! "The Emergency," his most famous single was #1 on satellite radio for over 8 weeks and I could not be any more thrilled for this NOMination!

The other nominations for the category are:
These Hopeful Machines - BT
Further
- The Chemical Brothers
Head First - Goldfrapp
Black Light - Groove Armada
La Roux - La Roux

The Antlers

I stole the set list of The Antlers concert at the Paradise...

Peter Silberman: Vocals and Guitar

"Hospice," the first album of The Antlers, consists of songs that Peter Silberman wrote of a terminally-ill patient that he had an intimate relationship with in a hospice. All the lyrics are devoted to this one patient and are truly exceptional; they portray Silberman's emotional and abusive relationship with her and simultaneously showing his phenomenal talent. His vocals suit the lyrics perfectly. "Hospice" was voted #1 album by NPR and #37 best album of 2009. Though I may be experiencing the typical holy-shmoly wow that was insane in the membrane post-concert feelings, I can surely say that was one of the best performances I have seen. When they played, "Wake" as their last song during the encore, all I was thinking was, "this is my happy place, this is my happy place!" Two thumbs up, P.S.

and P.S. P.S., I <3 you.

Kanye West

Well it looks like Pitchfork is giving away 10.0 album reviews for free! Though I do agree that his new album is his best so far, I do not believe it deserves a 10. Kanye West in an interview said he wants to be one of the greatest artists of all time and predicts he will accomplish this silly dream of his! Does anyone find this hullarious? My favorite song on this album is the collaboration with one of my favorite artists Bon Iver, "Lost in the World."

Electric Zoo Festival

Ridiculous.

EZF this year brought twice as many people as last year, which is a good and bad thing. The crowd was way more into the show and the dj's were infinitely better (last year the headliners were ATB, David Guetta?, and Markus Schulz). However, the amount of skeezy guidos/meatheads/sluts that attended were phenomenal. Also, the planning that went into the festival this year could have been millions and billions and trillion times better. Thousands of teenagers, literally like a herds of cattle, in numerous lines, were waiting for one or two shuttles that would take us back into the city. It took us over two hours to get home.

Either way, absolutely ridiculous.

Xample

Drum and bass, drum and bass, drum and bass!

Also, doesn't the voiceover in "The Coma" by Xample sound like the voiceover in "Blood Sugar" by Pendulum? Go to second 1:01 in "The Coma" and then to the very beginning of "Blood Sugar" and compare! Well isn't this a fun little game!

Dubstep Playlist

"Acid" - Terror Danjah
"Justify" - Ramadanman & Appleblim
"GR Etiquette" - Joy Orbison
"CMYK" - James Blake
"Stuck in the System" - Joker
"Backward" - Kode9 & The Spaceape
"Crystalised" (The xx remix) - Dark Sky
"Apple Bottom" - Distal
"Mood Dub" - Coki

Mumford and Sons

People sayin' Mumford and Sons are the new Fleet Foxes. I say that may be true, but so tremendously infinitely better. Give me more Mumford. Give me more Sons.

Foals

If you haven't already, buy their latest CD "Total Life Forever," which came out this past May. Yannis Philippakis' voice is so hauntingly beautiful, you just will not know what to do with your dear self. My recommendation is "Spanish Sahara" on this album.

Here is a picture of Yannis Philippakis to fantasize about:

Here is "Spanish Sahara" to orgasm to:

Also check out Mount Kimbie's remix to Spanish Sahara...it is simply delicious!

Now all that's left is bringing the Foals back to the US - damn Europeans holdin' them up till 2011.

M.I.A.

M.I.A. is trying to be all controversial and whatnot - using this video as a metaphor of genocide. However, this does not make me question anything at all except for what the hell she is thinking...please watch this video of hers below - you will understand what I am talking about:

Hard

Hard NYC this past weekend - April 3rd at Terminal 5.

The lineup was Boys Noize, Major Lazer, Baruka Som Sistema, Proxy, and Destructo. This was Proxy's first time playing the states! He was incredible, but Boys Noize definitely killed the show. However, the only disappointing part of the concert, was the end of Boys Noize's set. It was a very abrupt ending, and everyone in the crowd was like, "uhhh?" But apparently that is Terminal 5's policy that the set has to end at 2 AM and the venue shuts down at that point. Major Lazer's lazers (lol) were cool - everyone rolling/tripping there must have flipped out.

I have realized every set must play Riverside - it's like a rule or something...

I have also realized every tween in New York City was there...

Sasquatch Music Festival

A total estimate of 18 hours and 1 minute from Los Angeles to Washington (Sasquatch Music Festival)...if anyone is down for a serious road trip, you know I'm D. Some artists to lure you into this road trip who will be playing this festival include - Broken Social Scene, Miike Snow, Why?, Portugal the Man, Massive Attack, Dirty Projectors, The xx, Simian Mobile Disco, A-Trak, MGMT, and much, much, more.

Coachella

17 Days until Coachella!
The lineup keeps getting better and better. This year's lineup ranking is pretty close to last year's lineup, though 2008 was probably the best so far. If Beirut was playing this year, it might be tied. WHERE IS THE LIST OF SET TIMES?!

Benny Benassi
Deadmau5
Grizzly Bear

Happy Day of Birth Ed Banger

Ed Banger's 7th Anniversary Party at Terminal 5! I had a mild heart attack when I heard that Thomas Bangalter was there, but sadly he was not - that would have been way too good to be true. However, Yelle, Uffie, and David Guetta were all special guests at this oh-so-special event.

Only complaint of the entire night - too many little tweens on ecstasy.
